Long before Fred Shoemaker picked up a golf club, a non-golfer, Albert Einstein, described the value of tapping into our deeper experience when he said: The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
Another way to use gravity in the down swing is to feel the snap down of the top of the right side after feeling the stretch of the right side. This is an efficient use of gravity where the downward force of gravity adds to the snap down of the top of the right side.
A handicap is a numerical measure of an amateur golfer's ability to play golf over the course of 18 holes. A player's handicap generally represents the number of strokes above par that the player will make over the course of an above-average round of golf. The better the player the lower their handicap is. Someone with a handicap of 0 or less is often called a scratch golfer, and would typically score or beat the course par on a round of play (depending on course difficulty).
The downswing movement of the pelvis is the most critical for rotation. The reason is that the sacroiliac joint and thoracolumbar fascia (TLF) are there to transfer forces from upper to lower body and lower body to upper body. I think of a Tahitian dance where the dancer moves the pelvis in a way that creates small fast figure eight movement to shake her skirt around circularly. It isn't slow like a hula hoop action. This is more about speed in a tight circle.
When you have an efficient down swing, you will feel that you will be doing less with your lower body, upper body, arms, and hands. When you try to do too much with your lower body, upper body, arms, and hands, you are using a very inefficient down swing motion.
We love a good gimmick, but what you really want are features that deliver meaningful results and comparisons, so that you can apply what you see into practice with a clear understanding of how it will improve your game. That's much more important than any flashing lights or pretty colours.
Once you can do that correctly, we're going to start adding the right hand back in, but we're going to let it come off the club. We've got two drills so far. Start out left hand only, stick it in the ground, swing just hit these little tiny dribblers and just make sure your impact alignments are correct. Next piece, rotate and release. The ball's going to go a little bit farther, just working on the release.
As you follow the lessons, my method will gradually become part and parcel of your normal game, so follow my instructions and give it the necessary time to allow my method to become embedded into your subconscious.
